Area Police
Around fifty cars have been smeared with what seems to be blood from a person in the German city of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by police.
Vehicles, exterior walls and mailboxes were defaced, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they reported in a official communication.
Officers state they were contacted during the night on Wednesday night, when a man discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored fluid.
The liquid had been applied in the form of a banned symbol, they added.
Officers then found multiple other vandalized vehicles and house walls in the surrounding area.
These symbols are banned in Germany under legislation banning the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.
Officials state initial examinations indicate the fluid was most likely blood from a person.
"There is still no indication as to where it came from; officials are presently not aware of any harm in relation with the event," they stated.
Municipal representatives stated they were trying "to resolve the incident" and have appealed to the public for tips.
An important official commented the vandalism left him without words and required to be addressed quickly.
"This event affects the center of Hanau and revives the pain of the right-wing attack half a decade ago," he stated on online, mentioning the murder of nine victims by a assailant focusing on residents of immigrant origin in five years prior.
